TONNINGEN MT. HIKE

Join us for a hike to the top of Tonningen mountain and enjoy its spectacular 360-degree panoramic views. We’ll hike a steep incline to the top and enjoy the views and a snack. Here you’ll have a great view of Kvenværsøyan, Smøla, Veiholmen and Tustnastababban in Møre. To the North we’ll see Bispøyan, Titran, and on a clear day Sletringen Lighthouse.

Then we’ll hike down Munkedalen valley through ancient primeval forest and to Hitra's finest freshwater beach in Sagvatnet. Here we’ll take a longer break and we'll make bonfire coffee. Bring your swimsuit and a towel so you can go for a swim in Sagvatnet.

The hike is partly off trail and follows animal trails, forest trails and a dirt road. The tour is an 11 km long trip of medium difficulty. The elevation gain is 225 meters and you need to be able to hike off trail. The steepest part is not too exposed but has a rope that you can use to lean on and pull yourself up. Children aged 5-6 can do this, but can get tired if they are not used to the distance. The trick is to take adequate breaks and bring food and snacks.
