Dolmsundet, Dolm\u00f8ya og Frohavet - a multi species fishing paradise!<\/h2>\t\t\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The fishing and deep-sea fishing in Hitra, especially in Dolmsundet, around Dolm\u00f8ya and Frohavet is rare in terms of species diversity. Here you have an opportunity to fish for most of the Arctic and Norwegian species in manageable sheltered areas. The most common species are Halibut, Cod, Coalfish, Monkfish, Haddock, Tusk, Turbot, Plaice; European Flounder, Mackerel, Salmon, Seatrout, Wolf-fish, Redfish, Herring, Pollack, Tuna, Ling Cod, and Short-Spine Sea Scorpion.<\/p>\n

Throughout the ages fishing and seafood has been extremely important for island survival and the primary food source in Dolmsundet and Hitra. Here in Dolmsundet the art of fishing and the knowledge of the fishing grounds has been passed down for several generations. We have approx. 40 marked fishing hotspots where you can fish for different types of fish. Guests will receive a fishing hotspot map upon arrival.<\/p>\n

Each season has its dedicated fishery and underwater life. In the fall, you have an opportunity to catch monster halibuts and, in the winter, the big cod comes to Dolmsundet to spawn. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Winter is the best time to fish in Hitra due to the quality of the fish. In the summer you can go trolling for salmon. If you are interested in trophy fishing, Hitra holds several world records in Lange fishing. Best times to catch a big Lange is in the winter or spring.<\/p>\n

We offer deep sea fishing tours with guides in and around the waters of Hitra and Fr\u00f8ya. The weather and season determine where and what you\u2019ll fish. When fishing with a local guide you have a bigger chance at catching fish, and you are in safe hands when it comes to navigating challenging waters. New to angling? Our guides will teach you basic angling skills.<\/p>\n

Freshwater fishing: There are over 1000 fishing lakes in Hitra where you can fish for trout and char. Fishing license is required and can be purchased at Inatur.no<\/a><\/p>\n

NAUTICAL CHARTS<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t

Upon arrival all our guests will receive an A3 laminated nautical chart covering the surrounding areas. Guests who want to buy original nautical maps for larger areas, then 3 maps are needed to cover the nautical area around Hitra and Fr\u00f8ya.<\/p>\n

Nautical boating charts can be purchased at Kartbutikken<\/a>. Paper maps, electronic paper maps, electronic navigational charts and updates of nautical charts can be bought at\u00a0Kartverket<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t

\n<\/strong>Wearing a personal flotation device is required on board recreational craft of less than 8\u00a0metres in length. Suitable personal flotation devices shall be available for all persons on board recreational craft of 8\u00a0metres and upwards.<\/p>\n

Be well-rested and sober
\n<\/strong>The maximum legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is 0.8 for operators of recreational craft of less than 15\u00a0metres in length.<\/p>\n
