The fish/fishery
The anglerfish has a big head about half of its total length. It is found from the intertidal zone down to 600 m depth, but during spawning in the spring it can move down to a depth of 2500 m. Spawning occurs mainly west of the British Isles. In Norway, fishing for monkfish traditionally been a bycatch fishery. In recent years net fishing for anglerfish has developed. This fishery is mainly on the coast of Møre and Romsdal, and Song and Fjordane.
